Yoga mat bag

I started a yoga class recently and absolutely love it! I bought a mat, so thought I'd better make myself a bag to carry it around.

Mother and daughter trip to Lille

Just got back from a wonderful little trip to Lille, France with my mum. There was lots of shopping, eating and drinking, but also culture in the form of a magnificent museum in a converted swimming pool building and a very educational and exciting trip to a textiles factory, where we saw working looms from across the centuries. I uploaded some photos to Facebook and mum said they make a lovely collage, so I took screen shots of them.

Stunning architecture, signage and stained glass windows in Old Lille.

Musee La Piscine:an absolutely stunning building with a tranquil atmosphere and amazing artworks, including fabric swatch books. The museum is in the district of Roubaix, which is about thirty minutes from the city, but well worth the trip. Roubaix used to have a thriving textiles industry, but since more and more production is done offshore, this has sadly died over the years. The photo below shows the beautifu, Art Deco, stained glass window and the photo underneath is of reels of thread at the Manufacture de Flandres, which housed the looms we saw.

Of course there was lots of gluttony too! This amazing raspberry tartlette was enjoyed with loose leaf Earl Grey tea (there were hundreds of varieties of tea) at Meert, an eighteenth century salon de the.

Visit to Kingston Lacey

It's been a while since I've posted anything. I'm on my summer holidays at the moment and visited this beautiful Natuonal Trust property just outside Wimborne. It was such a beautiful day; clear, blue sky.

They had two sows who had about sixteen piglets between them. So gorgeous!

There was a bed of aliums, absolutely covered in butterflies Not a great close up, but an amazing sight to behold.

They have a period laundry room there where there was a display of beautiful vintage linens and baby bibs and accessories.

Two tops, three skirts

Finally took some photos of me in my tops and skirts for Etsy. Sometimes people need to see garments on a model, even if I pull silly faces in front of a camera!! The two wax print tanks and button-through skirt are available to buy on Etsy; the circle skirt is a PDF pattern also available on Etsy.

All in a (sun)day's work

Busy sewing Sunday yesterday :) made a card for a colleague's birthday:

Another set of pouches in some lovely old and new fabrics, including the melody miller radio print for kokka and a gorgeous kitsch bird print mum gave me:

New shape (not designed this way- it was intended to be an iPad pouch, but I cut it too small!):

Finally finished quilting my Kaffe Fassett quilt (on my beautiful bew Juki!) and bound the edges:

New fabrics

Had a wonderful day out yesterday with mum. The sun was shining, so we took ourselves to Petworth House and enjoyed some culture in the form of Van Dyke and Turner paintings. We had lots of tea and cake and then ended the day with some retail therapy at Eternal Maker!
I love the Michael Miller and Moda combo- my favourite colours at the mo! Not sure the middle one goes well enough. Was thinking of doing a large disappearing nine patch, similar to the next image (not disappearing nine patch, but it wouldn't be dissimilar and I like the layout).

Always wanted some filler fabric like this for sashing/ backgrounds etc.

I've been playing around with a square within a square designs and this retro red linear fabric goes well with my Scotty dogs!

All my dreams...

...came true yesterday, when this little beauty came home with me! I had been using an old mechanical Brother for years, which I'd had since school. I used it every day and it had started to make a lot of noise and was labouring. This replacement is an absolute dream to use in comparison! I didn't know you could fall in love with a machine, but I have!!
