Dresden Plate

Since my fabric-filled trip to Pennsylvania, I have wondered what to do with my feedsack repros from Zooks Dry Goods Store in Intercourse. Many of the 1930s quilt designs are based on the dresden plate/ wedding band designs. I found this modern version and was inspired by the idea of using a block as an art piece. I spent yesterday creating a template and coming up with my first prototype. I am so in love with these fabrics!

  2. Thanks ladies! I would love to make lots of these and produce a quilt, but I dint think I have the patience!! Maybe a cushion cover?! Or appliqué on a skirt/ jacket?

  3. I love these fabrics, they are beautiful, a quilt (motif) is the perfect thing for them. I had to look up Dresden Plate and feedsacks; so interesting. You should make a beautiful 1940s style frock with them.

  4. Thanks Sandra. I love the colours/ patterns and generally everything from this period!! I only bought small amounts, but a dress would be stunning if I could get hold of some more.
