Kaffe Fassett and Lichtenstein
Had a wonderful day in London yesterday with mum. We went to see the Kaffe Fassett exhibition at Zandra Rhodes' Fashion and Textiles Museum in Bermondsey. Had a gorgeous lunch at the chic Cote restaurant at Hay's Galleria, then walked along the river, via Borough Market to Tate Modern to see the Lichtenstein exhibition. Both were well worth seeing: Kaffe was so bright, colourful and inspiring and the Lichtenstein's were amazing to see in the flesh, so big and bold. Took a quick trip to Regent St to visit the Japan Centre and Liberty.

Trip to Ghana
I recently returned from an amazing teacher exchange trip to Ghana. It was extremely hot, but the people, culture and textiles history is just fascinating. I taught the students how to embroider their names onto patches, which i have brought home to make into a patchwork quilt to display in their school. I was taken to try the Ashanti printing method called Adinkra printing and purchased some blocks to try with my students here. I also saw traditional Kente cloth being woven. We were taken on a tour through the bustling, eclectic market where I purchased lots of Dutch wax printed cottons, which are so bright and exciting. I'm hoping to make some of these into vintage style dresses and circle skirts.
